Surly ironic. The circle of violence is frightening. In Indigenous belief (of many nations) when the 'spirit of evil' is let out of the box it MUST be placed back in the back or it will infect generation after generation. Kun was invaded by evil. Hanging Kun did not end the evil...it just moved to another host. That is old wisdom not new age garbage. Until we understand this ancient wisdom we will always be at war..we will destroy the Earth ... and maybe bring the world to nuclear war.

I wish I had read all of these books from the 50’s during my doctoral work. Better late than never. Regarding hypnosis: I’m clinically trained through my license as a mental health counselor but for 35 years now I’ve worked with shaman and medicine people around the world. Almost 20 years ago I was made a yuwipi man by the Lakota people. So my hypnotherapy is based on relationship, vibration and cadence. Locking eyes and some leading a person ‘down’ or ‘through’ still an aspect of induction. But…. Odd as it sounds… the spirits that work with me do much of the work. I enjoy questions if you have any

It occurs to me that you might find value in William Sargant's _Battle for the Mind_ (1957), if you have not already come across it. He talks about rapid opinion change (that is to say, conversion). One of his chapters is specifically about prolonged interrogation.
